MEDICAL DOCTOR PROGRAM

Program overview

The aim of the medical program at Alte University is to prepare internationally qualified, highly skilled medical professionals by instilling contemporary skills, values, and methods in both practical and theoretical applications of medicine. The program encompasses various teaching methodologies and is divided into four phases, each emphasizing different aspects of medical education.

Teaching Methodologies:

The course offers integrated teaching with an innovative approach, to provide both basic and clinical understanding of organ systems, as well as developing the necessary knowledge, skills, and values required for the field of medicine. For the program implementation we use the following teaching methods:

Lectures: Traditional classroom instruction.

Group Work: Collaborative learning experiences. 

Discussions: Interactive sessions for exchanging ideas. 

Inquiry: Encouraging curiosity and exploration. 

Presentations: Sharpening communication and presentation skills. 

Case Studies: Analyzing real-world medical cases.

Problem-Based Learning: Focusing on problem-solving skills. 

Inductive-Deductive Reasoning: Developing logical reasoning. 

Virtual Reality Assisted Learning: Utilizing modern technology for immersive experiences. 

Clinical Based Learning: Learning in a real clinical setting. 

Bedside Teaching: Direct observation and instruction at the patient’s bedside. 

Learning Using Simulated Environments: Utilizing simulated scenarios for training.

The course is structured into four phases:

Phase 1 – Foundation:

Integrates key foundational fields (biochemistry, anatomy, physiology) with practical fields (radiology, clinical skills).

Provides a practical understanding of theoretical fields.

Phase 2 – Pre-clinical:

Focuses on understanding the syndromic and symptomatic effects of diseases through clinical analysis of patient conditions.

Phase 3 – Clinical:

Involves identification and analysis of medical diseases specific to disciplines such as obstetrics-gynecology, pediatrics, and surgery during hospital shifts.

Phase 4 – Actual Clinical Practice:

Applies accumulated knowledge in various ways, including independent clinical procedures, medical research, seminars, workshops.

Together with curricular courses, school offers exchange programs and preparatory courses for licensing exams and residencies in the US and India.

Course Results:

Upon completion of the course, degree holders are expected to:

  • Attain a fundamental understanding and competence in biomedical, behavioral, social, and clinical systems.
  • Communicate effectively in clinical settings with patients, families, peers, and colleagues.
  • Assess and identify diseases, reach final diagnoses, and recommend treatment.
  • Conduct first aid, CPR, BLS, and ACLS, taking into account factors such as age and condition.
  • Perform practical procedures in simulated and real environments while abiding by safety, ethical, and legal principles.
  • Manage acute and chronic diseases considering age, type of disease, and psychological and social factors.
  • Source medical literature based on evidence-based medicine principles.
  • Draw conclusions based on critical analysis and evaluation with academic honesty and ethical considerations.
  • Use information technologies for producing practical medical records while adhering to legal requirements for confidentiality and data protection.
  • Conduct medical research, draw conclusions, and make recommendations to improve public health.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle and related activities.

Overall, the program aims to produce medical professionals who can excel in diverse clinical settings, demonstrate leadership, contribute to medical research, and advocate for public health.

Employment opportunities

Graduates of the English Language Medicine Program will be able to:

 

  • Continue their study for a Doctorate, or apply for a Residency course, or a residency course equivalent in accordance with local laws, and after completing a standardized exam relevant to their jurisdiction, can begin to pursue their own medical practice;
  • Be employed as a junior doctor in organizations of public health and medical services;
  • Be employed in pedagogical and/or scientific institutions;
  • Be employed in healthcare management organizations;
  • Be employed in pharmaceutical establishments;

    Will I be able to participate in exchange programs?

    • Students at the Alte University School of Medicine program can participate in exchange programs announced by partner universities operating in Europe and Asia;
    • Alte University actively cooperates with the Erasmus program;
    • Alte University collaborates with the Confucius Institute, which gives each student the opportunity to study Chinese for free and receive 100% funding for studying in China;
    • The University cooperates with one of the leading educational institutions in India – Bharath Institute (Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research), through exchange programs, and joint seminars and workshops;

    In what cases does a student receive a scholarship?

    In order for a student to be eligible for a scholarship, he or she must have a high academic standing and be actively involved in student conferences, research, projects, cultural and sporting events of the University.

    International medical school

    The mission of the International Medical School is to empower and help every single person, who wants to become a competent doctor and health professional, to educate and empower future clinicians to practice patient-centered medicine of the highest standard, prepare competent and compassionate world-class healthcare physicians while fostering a diverse community of aspiring healthcare professionals from around the globe.

    The International School of Medicine offers Georgian and international students three programs: Medicine (Georgian), Medicine (English) and Dentistry (English).

    Upon successful completion of the course, graduates are afforded the opportunity to pursue advanced education leading to a Doctorate, apply for a Residency program, or its equivalent in accordance with the regulations of their respective jurisdictions. Upon passing a standardized unified state examination, they become eligible to commence independent medical practice.

    • Practice at the best clinic of the country: Ivane Bokeria University Hospital, is an affiliated clinic of Alte University, which means that our students have their clinical subjects on the premises of this hospital on a daily basis (MD program students)

    • Innovative teaching methods: VR Technologies for practical activities, simulation-based medical teaching and learning, problem-based learning (PBL), case study.

    Program Duration: 5 years/10 semesters

    The single-level medical education program is accredited in accordance with national accreditation standards and the sector-specific attributes of higher medical education, aligning with the medical standards established by the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME). Moreover, the School of Medicine holds membership in the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE). Furthermore, the program has received recognition from the Indian Medical Council (NMC).

    The diploma conferred by Alte University holds global recognition, extending across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
